Class Descriptions

  • Whether you're a seasoned foodie or a curious beginner, this class will teach you how to expertly assemble and present a stunning charcuterie board that is as visually appealing as it is delicious.

During this session, you’ll learn about a selection of fine cheeses, cured meats, and complementary accompaniments such as nuts, fruits, and pickles. We'll also dive into pairing these flavors with appropriate wines and other beverages to enhance the tasting experience. Our expert instructor (and our favorite in-house wedding coordinator!) Nicole Hawkes, will provide tips on sourcing the best ingredients, arranging them with style, and the key flavor profiles that make for a balanced board.

Come join us at A Little Something at Caswell Farm and turn your next social event into a memorable gourmet experience. Attendees will get to take home their very own petite-designed board!

  • Hidden color exists all around us, waiting to be transformed into works of art. Eco printing is the process of bundling and steaming both plants and food waste onto either fabric or paper, allowing the natural pigments to transfer to the prepared substrate. All of the colors, shapes, and textures that bond with the fiber come from the materials themselves, leaving their incredible imprints for us to enjoy. Eco printing offers unique variations and a world of possibilities that allow for full exploration, while mindfully collaborating with the natural world!

Participants will print onto a set of mordanted fiber accessories, including a cotton bandana and tote bag. Create beautiful, one of a kind pieces that can be admired forever, while taking time to slow down and appreciate the diversity of patterns, shapes and ideas dwelling alongside and within us. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
No experience is necessary to join, and all are welcome!

  • During this hands-on workshop, students will learn the basics of natural dyeing with shibori resist methods using a cotton bandana and reusable napkin, and experiment with various foraged dyestuffs and kitchen waste to coax colors from nature. Local plants can be used to dye fibers, in addition to food compost such as carrot greens, onion skins, avocado pits, and more! Throughout the class, we will discuss various methods for pretreatment or 'mordanting' fabric, mindful foraging and safe dye practices, as well as different techniques for creating colorful stories and patterns on cloth and paper.

Create beautiful, one of a kind pieces that can be enjoyed for years to come, while taking time to slowdown and appreciate the richness and diversity of plant pigments dwelling alongside us and within our own kitchens! All materials will be provided.
Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. No experience is necessary to join, and all are welcome!
